Summit Christian College is gearing up for its 10th annual Summit to Summit Run/Walk to be held Saturday, May 12 in Gering. This challenging and beautiful 7.2-mile run/walk from the Summit campus in Gering to the summit of Scotts Bluff National Monument and back has become a favorite early spring community outing.
Pre-registration is now open for runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels.
The Summit to Summit Run will feature a professionally-timed 7.2-mile race beginning at 7:30 a.m. with the walking event following at 7:35 a.m. Shuttle rides for those wanting to enjoy a morning stroll along the Monument’s foot trails will also be available.
The run/walk is open to all ages. Medals will be awarded to the overall male and female runners and the top three runners in each age/gender division.
Summit to Summit will also feature a Christian Services Expo open from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. with many local Christian service/ministry groups. A pancake breakfast with free-will donations will be served throughout the morning for the runners, family members and the community, along with kids’ bounce houses and other family-friendly fun, including a probable landing by Air Link helicopter.
Online registration is now open at www.summittosummit.org. Entry fees are $25 for all runners; $25 for adult walkers age 16 and up; $15 for youth walkers age 10 to 15; and $5 for child walkers 9 and under. Pre-registration by May 4 guarantees a T-shirt and swag bag. Registrations will also be taken the morning of the event from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.
