Summit is accredited by ABHE

Summit Christian College in Gering has been accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). College officials received the announcement while attending the 2019 ABHE Annual Meeting Feb. 20-22 in Orlando, Fla.

ABHE is a national faith-related accrediting organization recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Summit Christian College is now among 149 American colleges accredited by the association.

Summit Christian College President David Parrish said the accredited status will further advance the college’s abilities to recruit students who are pursing training and careers in ministry, missions, or leadership positions in church and para-church settings.

According to ABHE, institutions seeking to obtain or renew accreditation are required to conduct a comprehensive, analytical self-study involving input from every key internal and external institutional constituency and resulting in both an assessment of quality in reference to common standards and in recommendations for improvement, ensuring that the educational programs offered at Summit Christian College have attained a level that meets or exceeds standards that were developed by a wide range of experts in the field.

Summit Christian College, is an institution of Christian higher learning that educates leaders for Christian service. The college was founded in 1951 as Platte Valley Bible College in Scottsbluff, NE and now offers baccalaureate degrees in Christian Studies, Ministry Studies, Biblical Studies with an emphasis on languages, an associate degree in Biblical Studies and a Certificate in Christian Foundations.
